Christmas Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

Christmas 2012 Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

I big-ol-heart Christmas. The month of December is one of my favorite of the year. I love the food, the gift giving, the decor, and the traditions. (Of course I feel I should add- the bestest part of Christmas is Jesus!) Christmas at our house brings with it lots of traditions. Some of them are from our childhoods (like decorating houses!) and some of them are new ones that we started as a family. This year, since Greg was serving at the church all day Sunday, Asa and I decided to invite a friend and his mom to come decorate […]

A Vintage/Anthropologie Inspired Little Man Baby Shower

Fox Cake

I’m excited to share this vintage, Anthropologie, little man inspired baby shower with you all today! Back in April a sweet friend of mine was going to be having a baby boy. I wanted to help plan/style the party. Since Tish (my friend) is a lover of all things eclectic, and is a photographer, it made sense to combine the two loves and create this dessert table. We wanted to bring an indoor nursery outside and created a faux wall to help feature the desserts. We used family pictures, art, “G’ for baby Greyson, and a DIY deer head (my […]

I’m a wanna be foodie- Wednesday Review

So a week or so ago I read a statistic that most New Year’s Resolutions don’t last longer then two weeks.  Seeing as how mine didn’t last longer then two days, I can see how that statistic would be fairly accurate.  This year, my resolution was to eat at only locally owed restaurants when we went out to eat (or at least owned by New Mexicans).  The problem is, it’s not really easy to distinguish if they are local or not.  There are some that are no brainers, and others that are a little harder.  So, I busted my resolution, […]

The BEST baby shower gift for 1st time mommies

IMG_3133-1

A little over 2 1/2 years ago Greg and I welcomed Asa into the world.  He has been a joy and a wonderful addition to our family.  A few months before he was born a friend threw a baby shower for me and we were fortunate to have many friends and family shower us with gifts.  Everything from diapers and wipes to clothes to highchairs and a car seat/stroller combo were included in the gifts that were graciously provided for us. If I remember right, every one of those gifts was used and cherished in its time.  There is one […]

Asa’s First Birthday – How to save money on a kid’s birthday party.

Veggie garden 2

Goes to show how on top of things I am.  Asa celebrated his first birthday on June 5, 2009.  Turning one is quite a milestone in my book and I knew I wanted to commemorate the occasion with a party fit for a one year old (and his friends since he wouldn’t remember any of it).  I started researching a few months prior and narrowing down my themes.  I wanted something cute and fun but not too old for him.  I finally settled on a bug theme birthday. Normally we would do the party at our house, but since our backyard […]
