Christmas Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

Christmas 2012 Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

I big-ol-heart Christmas. The month of December is one of my favorite of the year. I love the food, the gift giving, the decor, and the traditions. (Of course I feel I should add- the bestest part of Christmas is Jesus!) Christmas at our house brings with it lots of traditions. Some of them are from our childhoods (like decorating houses!) and some of them are new ones that we started as a family. This year, since Greg was serving at the church all day Sunday, Asa and I decided to invite a friend and his mom to come decorate […]

A Vintage/Anthropologie Inspired Little Man Baby Shower

Fox Cake

I’m excited to share this vintage, Anthropologie, little man inspired baby shower with you all today! Back in April a sweet friend of mine was going to be having a baby boy. I wanted to help plan/style the party. Since Tish (my friend) is a lover of all things eclectic, and is a photographer, it made sense to combine the two loves and create this dessert table. We wanted to bring an indoor nursery outside and created a faux wall to help feature the desserts. We used family pictures, art, “G’ for baby Greyson, and a DIY deer head (my […]

Kid Room #2- Pottery Barn Kids Inspired Nursery Knock Off

mroom2

Mason’s room.  When I started looking for bedding for Mason I looked for a room with a classic, clean feel.  I didn’t want anything super babyish because we needed his room to serve as a guest room also. Here it is: Before and after:  Yeah, those orange walls were nasty! (picture on the right by Courtney Miller Photography). I found my inspiration from a Pottery Barn Kids catalog.                             Here is a picture of the in between (Asa’s nursery) Here’s a fuller picture of the one above […]

Emma’s Elegant Affair Bridal Shower

Emmasshower

Back in December my friend Stephanie and I hosted a shower for our friend Emma (and some other awesome ladies helped by bringing food and drinks).  It was one of the craziest weekends E-V-E-R. I did an insane thing.  I committed to 2 showers (yes, back to back on the same weekend!) and decorating for advent at our church. Not to mention it was two weeks after my surgery.  IN-SANE. Insane in the brain…insane in the membrane! It would not have happened if not for Stephanie.  She was a true rock star! After the first shower was over we cleaned […]

Advent Christmas Decor

Christmas Tree

Back in November one of the Pastor’s at my church (Mars Hill Church in Albuquerque) approached me about heading up the Advent decor.  I was honored, and humbled, and a little nervous too.  I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it because I was having surgery and didn’t know how it would go.  Greg and I prayed, and we felt like God said WE should do it.  So we said yes, with the understanding that I might be limited in what I could do.  God graciously provided help in the form of interns (you guys are bomb!) […]
