I love this Thanksgiving leftover recipe! To be honest, I can’t remember how we came across it- whether we came up with it on our own or saw one somewhere and decided to make it- but either way, it’s become a day after Thanksgiving staple at our house and I am so excited to share it here! Later this week I’ll be sharing our family Thanksgiving recipes, so you can experience the same tastes we do, but for now, here is the super simple recipe for the panini. Sliced sour dough bread Olive oil or butter for brushing Spoonful premade […]

A Birth, Birthdays, Weddings, Move, House and Graduations

Salad

A lot has happened since my last post. A LOT. As you know, we sold our house last summer. God told us to so we did. We ended up renting for about 10 months from my mom to save a down payment (with help from my mom-thanks mom!) and find a house in the area we wanted to be in. Well, we found a great little ranch style house in THE neighborhood we wanted  back in February and closed in March. We ended up doing some cosmetic work before moving in so we didn’t move in until April. By that […]

12 Days of Christmas and Other Fun Things

Homemade Christmas Advent Calendar

This year I thought it would be crazy  fun to do a “12 Days of Christmas” for my incredible hubby.  He’s been working so hard for our family and taking care of us all, I wanted to do something to show him how much I love him and what he means to me. So Tuesday night I wrapped everything/finished creating things, and put it under the tree. (Need some ideas or an explanation? Check out Passionate Homemaking.) Today was the first day. He opened his gift this morning. On the 1st day of Christmas, my true love gave to me… […]

Christmas Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

Christmas 2012 Traditions: Decorating Gingerbread Houses

I big-ol-heart Christmas. The month of December is one of my favorite of the year. I love the food, the gift giving, the decor, and the traditions. (Of course I feel I should add- the bestest part of Christmas is Jesus!) Christmas at our house brings with it lots of traditions. Some of them are from our childhoods (like decorating houses!) and some of them are new ones that we started as a family. This year, since Greg was serving at the church all day Sunday, Asa and I decided to invite a friend and his mom to come decorate […]

Where to Hang Your Stockings (When you don’t have a mantle)

Pottery Barn Engraved Photo Stocking Holder

Where do you hang your stockings when you don’t have a fireplace mantle? The last few years we have placed our stocking holders on a bookshelf that was out of the way and the boys couldn’t/didn’t get into. We use these stocking holders from Pottery Barn (I just love that we can change out our pictures every year! They were an investment, but I feel like they were worth it since we will be using them for the next 20- 50 years- once we get a house with a fireplace and mantle of course!) Another shot. A Little Bit of a Rant

Carolina Island House

Image Credit Sometimes I think I should have been born on the East coast. Up until recently (within the last 3 or so years), I didn’t know what made my heart sing in terms of home decor. Don’t get me wrong, I could look through catalogs and home decor magazines and see a lot of inspiring pictures, but I wasn’t able to pinpoint what it was that I loved. Enter in Pottery Barn and Pinterest. Pottery Barn has great stylists. Their catalogs are carefully crafted to make you want to buy an entire room- even if you don’t have […]
